Some difficulty with the entrance to the hospital. I couldn't manage the steps and we couldn't always find someone to push the wheelchair up the slope. Otherwise everything else was very good.

A shambles, communication/admin staff don't appear to know what is going on and rude. Reception area and consulting rooms shabby, I was told by a staff member what do you expect this is mainly NHS. I saw a young man come out of the toilets without washing his hands only to find this was the same person giving me an ECG! I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

I recently had two cataract surgeries as a day patient at BMI Shirley Oaks. The hospital is a modern version of the old cottage hospital. It was extremely clean and well maintained. The day ward and operating theatre were pristine. The staff were all very pleasant, helpful and considerate. From initial appointment to completion of the second surgery took just under 2 months. Overall it was as pleasant an experience as eye surgery could be.

I was very satisfied with the way I was treated, both on my pre-admission visits and during my time as an in-patient. My Surgeon, Mr Bhupal Chitnavis was excellent and all the staff were very kind and caring.
